This is my first official build and I’m struggling with the placement of plants. How to I get my plants to seemingly grow from the walls??I built two “shelves” into the background which is what’s supporting the syngonium, but it’s very shallow. How do I support such a large plant up there and more importantly where do the roots go? Any advice is greatly appreciated since I’m a newbie!!

First, the Tillandsia probably ‘s gonna rot, given the water and high humidity.
You will probably not “achieve lush” with those plants. They’re great though !
But you choose Alocasia which doesn’t grow on a cliff, but is more of a ground level plant. Their leaves will get too big for the build at some point.
Syngonium is ok, it will probably grow as a vine and get bigger. At one point you’ll have to trim it.
    Anthurium looks great.
Some plants I could recommend that’d likely fit well in your build :
    – Ficus pumila / quercifolia
    – Selaginella uncinata
    – Selaginella willdenowii
    – Microsorum musiifolium
    – Ophiopogon niger
And given the high humidity why not :
    – Anubias spp
    – Bucephalandra spp
    – Cryptocoryne spp
    – Leptochilus pteropus
Also some aquatic mosses on the sides (look names cause I’m getting lazy)

use plants with smaller leaves and give them time to grow in

Moss with fix every problem you have in and out of terrariums, moss is the way to go

Check out the moss mix you paint on from Frog Daddy or NEHerp.
