After living in apartments all my life, I finally have a yard! It’s a rental, but have been told I am responsible for lawn upkeep and can “feel free” to do all the gardening I want.
What can I start with before Spring? Ps, she mostly south facing. ☀️
It’s a bit muddy and I’d like to amend that. I’m hoping to pick up some native plants this month from our local national forest (up to 15 free plants per year from the road prism). I’ll also be getting some raised beds together.

Zone 8b. Attached photo shows the yard, which is all grass and no other plants. There’s a large fire pit in the middle and it’s fenced in.
