Bought about a little over a month ago and brought home, did not re-pot it upon purchase.
In the last 2 weeks or so the smallest leaves have turned yellow and limp and then fallen off. I'd like to stop it before it hits these big beautiful leaves.
Have tried moving locations to get more sun, hasn't seemed to have made a difference. I guess next step is changing the pot/soil? Anyone have a good resource for learning right soil mixes for different plants?

What are all them white thingies
Stop moving the plant, they really don’t like that.
Give it bright to moderate light, do not repot yet.
It’s normal for older and smaller leaves to die off. But you might have pests, there’s a lot of small dots if I zoom in. Give it a good shower and wipe off the leaves then monitor it if the small dots appear again. But, honestly, it looks pretty healthy to me.
Honestly, it looks fine. Alocasia are prone to dropping the older leaves and that one looks like one of the first
In my experience they like more fertilizer than my other plants and do better with some Calcium/Magnesium supplements. I mix half-strength normal fertilizer and CalMag in a clean milk (or water) jug and I use that every time I water (but ONLY the alocasias, other plants might get upset). I ordered some online as a powder but there should be liquid if you prefer that. All other advice I see here at this time is also good and I agree but I didn’t see anyone mention that alocasias can be hungry.
