Since we are at it… the cacti that I transplanted into the ground (1 month ago) look noticeably more yellow than before. Dunno if it’s stress or if they are adapting to receiving different sunlight in this spot. Should I expect / wait for them to look like when they were potted before applying fertilizer for the first time (ever)? It’s spring over here.

Yeah one of mine is bigger than the column it pupped off of. Also this generally adds a ton of stability to the main column as well.

Thanks everyone, been lurking this sub for quite some time and I never noticed basal pups were a thing. Definitely keeping it then!
Best place for them to start. Close to the water and nutrients and usually grow large and healthy. Also be the beginning of a really good stand.

Idk about you but I’m all about clones I’d let it grow 6in to a foot then cut it and re root n do some grafts and keep the mother going!
