is hyped as a natural alternative to treat pain, improve focus, and even treat opioid withdrawal. Sure, because nothing says trust me like an unregulated powder hanging above withering gas station hot dogs. Let’s see if the science backs up those claims. Naturally comes from a tropical tree in Southeast Asia. Its main compounds act on the same brain receptors as opiates. At low doses, it can feel stimulating like strong coffee. At higher doses, more like a sedative pain reliever. In US surveys, nearly half ofratom users say they use it for pain relief. A small study in Malaysia found an increase in pain tolerance about an hour after drinking tea. Other users say it boosts mood or helps them cut down on opioids or alcohol. There’s some proof from animal studies that alkoids can reduce alcohol cravings and reduce pain signals. But here’s the catch. In humans, the only evidence comes from self-reports and preclinical research. There haven’t been any large controlled human trials. What we do know is about one in five users report side effects. fast heart rate or high blood pressure, nausea, vomiting or constipation, dizziness, agitation, or in rare cases, seizures. Some develop dependence or withdrawal symptoms like irritability, insomnia, or muscle aches. The most serious cases, including death, almost always involve other substances. So, it’s hard to isolate role. There’s no FDA approved use forratom, no standardized dose, and no guarantee of purity. So, whileratom’s natural, natural doesn’t always mean safe. Hemlock, Beldana, and opium are natural, too. Reasons why you shouldn’t go through a field eating anything you find. Nature can heal or harm depending on the dose. But because pain so effectively, it’s easy to get the dosage wrong and harder to deal with the side effects once they hit, which can be much worse than the heartburn from that gas station hot dog. As always, maners come from peer-reviewed research.

  1. Man, I kinda got hooked on kratom in a different way. In my late early 30’s I unfortunately was going out to bars a lot and drinking with friends. But thats all we did was drink a lot of times not even drunk but enough to get a hangover. In my 20’s I didnt go out a lot but also never got hangovers. Well, in my 30’s my hangovers were brutal and a gas station down the street from my home there was a clerk i talked to alot and one day he asked me i didnt feel good and told him I am hungover. He introduced me to a little shot called vivazen. And let me tell you, completely cured any and every hangover. Well here it’s 8 years later and I am now in the process of quitting. I am tapering. I have been straight shooting the powder for about 7 of those years. Ive tried going cold turkey and um no, I have to work. Going cold turkey was BRUTAL. At my worst I was literally doing I bet 65+ grams per day and I didnt even know it. I have been tapering for several months now working my way down. I am at about 10 grams per day. I take 2 grams every 4 hours. I have never been a drug user my entire life, alcohol only. Which I completely quit drinking abt 3 years ago and havent drank since, not even 1 drink and I do not miss it a bit lol. Ive been havinf severe fatigue issues for the past 3+ years and nothing to explain it. 2 normal sleep studies and everything else has been checked. My sleep doctor gives me adderall but even it BARELY helps and a lot of times doesnt help at all, even at a very high dose. I think the adderall is not helping bc adderall has messed my dopamine up bad. Ive tried various things that supposedly helps with dopamine but didnt help. I refuse to get on subox or anything like that. Trading 1 drug for another is just dumb bc then I will have to taper off that. Is there ANYTHING that could help? I only say all this just to let ppl know, you dont have to be a drug addict or a former addict to get hooked on this crap. I was literally taking it for hangovers and that was the ONLY reason. If I had known then what I known now I would’ve dealt with those hangovers 100% bc this is brutal. STAY AWAY!!!!!

  2. Kratom is effective in pain relief, just use it sparingly…because you will become addicted to it with heavy use. The withdrawals for me are similar to opioid withdrawals.
