The Wesson Garden Club recently awarded Society of Trees Certificates of Registration to Dr. Roy and Jerry Daughdrill, and Joe and Sherri Carty. Founded in Ocean Springs in 1971, Société Des Arbres (Society of Trees) aims to preserve historically significant trees; conserve trees that enhance aesthetic and environmental values; establish a registry of such trees; and protect registered trees as indigenous natural assets.

The Daughdrills’ tree is registered as 175 years old, while the Cartys’ tree is registered as 167 years old. Presenting the certificates was WGC member Lisa Smith.

The Wesson Garden Club is a member of The Garden Clubs of Mississippi Inc., National Garden Clubs Inc., Deep South Garden Clubs Inc., and the Natchez Trace District of GCM.
