I love bamboo. Yahoo. [Music] Hi, I’m Shyul. I’m from the hotticulture team. Welcome to the newest outdoor garden, which is the bamboo grove. This bamboo grove itself is the first outdoor bamboo garden that we have in Changi airport. Originally meant to be for tree bank where we actually planted small trees and then let him grow. As you can see, we have developed the butterfly trail. So, we thought, hey, um why don’t you we use this big space to develop a new garden. Let me show you how we built it. Come. Today is the first stage of the uh bamboo growth planting which uh we’re going to start off with uh planting of the uh bamboo species which we have about at least seven types of bamboo species which we’re going to be planting in this uh bamboo garden. As you can see that uh we are bringing in the uh big boulders today. Actually these boulders are from necessary or parts of the outdoor areas. Uh we are using crane from the other side which we’re going to hoist over the uh fence and then after that we’re going to leave it in the garden itself. Actually if you ask for challenges right of course is the weather. When we started doing it was raining most of the time when you have rain and then when you are digging soil and stuff like that that makes everything very soggy and stuff. So we just hope for the best. Okay, this is the second last stage of the bamboo growth planting. Uh you can see that we are planting all the ground plants. Uh we selected this uh Arundina or should I say is the bamboo orchid. We specifically plant them here. Other than that, we also have the other uh free flowering plants like right behind me. We call it the firecracker flowers. We make sure that uh they are also butterfly attracting plants or flowers. In fact, uh since we are just beside the butterfly trail, we make sure that uh the butterflies can also visit this garden. Okay, we at the last stage of the project itself where we are doing the paving as well as the turfing works. [Music] Garden is already completed now. I’m quite happy actually to see that uh the whole garden is up and ready to welcome the passengers or the public. We have built a nice footpath for you where you can enjoy uh the whole garden through this foot path. You can see the different species of bamboo that we have. Of course, the yellow bamboo, then we have the black bamboo, the Buddha belly, and then of course the flowering plants and the ground covers. If you’re tired, you can always uh take a rest and sit in one of our on one of our benches here. Yeah, this is uh quite sturdy enough for two people to sit on. If you happen to be at Changi airport itself and you want to visit this garden, you can come from up and spoke. we can actually make use of the uh park connector to come to this uh bamboo grove and also our butterfly trail. Changi has always wanted to be different from the other airports. Of course, we don’t have natural resources. So, we made use of like the gardens and stuff like that to apart from attracting people to use the airport, they can also use these gardens to rest because when you fly in, fly out, you know, you need some spaces or some places for you to rest, right? We also wanted to soften the whole area, the whole landscape. Uh, if you don’t have plants, it will be very bare. It will be very harsh. Okay, hope to see you guys here and enjoy the garden. Bye-bye.
