I saw damage like that from the local wild anoles stealing bugs off of mine.

I have a similar issue but I did find the culprit. It was a worm (idk what kind specifically but the typical earth worm one would find in the dirt lol) He lives within my big ping rock (it was outside all spring before I got around to setting it up, really didn’t think a work was gonna set up shop in a rock I was growing moss on) Problem is that one is doing wonderful and my other one is meh and the damage he’s done hasn’t actually affected the pings either (I will say tho my damage is much less compared to yours, he aims for the lower leaves with old big leftovers) So I let him live.
