I think it is interesting that despite the brassicas being cultivated for every concievable aspect:
Budheads (brocolli), budstems (cauli), leaves with kale and cabbage, shoots with brussels, the stem and root with kohlrabi, radishes and turnips, the seed oil with rape, not to mention all the asian versions of these,
but NOT the fresh young fruits! Why not?! At least with radishes, they are very tasty. Nice and crisp and refreshing, radish flavour with strong mustard spiciness.
If they were bred for them im sure they could be made even better, sweeter, larger quicker crops, etc. And yet, as far as I know, this was never done. I wonder why.
Anyone want to give it a go? 🤣

I pick them when they’re like that and pickle them. It’s such a good pickle. The crunch with that mustardy sourness is fantastic.
Actually, there is a variety of radish grow for its pods. The variety is called Rat Tail.
I found out about radish pods this year, and started letting some radishes go to seed for them. They’re lovely! Next year I’m going to try pickling them.
