Good morning, everyone! If you’re new here, hi, I’m Meryl. I grow my own food, flowers, and a little bit of joy right here in my humble garden. Today’s video is a continuation of the one I posted earlier. Morning is the best time to harvest vegetables. when the plants are still hydrated and crisp from the cooler night air. Some crops like lettuce can become bitter if harvested after a hot day. Harvesting in the morning helps preserve their natural sweetness and delicate flavor. Harvesting in the heat of the day can cause veggies especially leafy greens to wilt quickly. I love using baby greens or baby lettuce in my salads. This salad spinner removes excess water, leaving me with dry, crisp, and flavorful greens. Today, I’m going to make salads using fresh ingredients from my garden. By the way, what do you do with your kitchen scraps? Do you make compost out of it? I would love to own a kitchen composter someday. If you have one, let me know how you like it. I like using a peeler to make thinly sliced cucumbers. This year is my first time growing cucamelons and I’m excited to try them in different dishes like salads. Cucamelons taste like cucumbers. I love using cherry tomatoes in almost all of my dishes because they are not only delicious but also add sweetness to the salad or any dish. My daughter loves chicken tenders for her salad. I’m adding other proteins like eggs, too. Join me in plating the salad in 5 different ways. I’m creating an edible salad bowl using cucumber ribbons. This makes the perfect base for plating. I make mine medium-sized so I can put a lot in it. Garnish the salad with feta cheese. For my second salad plating, I’m keeping the salad on just one side of the plate for a minimalist look. What’s your favorite type of cheese for your salad? I used a pasta plate for my third plating. It helps keep everything neat and centered. For this fourth salad plating idea, I’m placing the salad right in the center of the dish for a simple, clean, and elegant look. I added bronze-red oakleaf lettuce for a pop of color and contrast. It kind of looks like a tree with snowflakes. Perfect to serve on Christmas! I’m using a balsamic glaze to add decorative dots around the plate Let’s eat before I show you the last salad plating. In our house, we usually don’t use dressing on our salad. We enjoy the taste of freshly harvested vegetables, which complements everything on the plate. Lastly, it’s nice to look back at the very first salad I posted here on my channel. Classic Chef salad for my 5th plating idea. I’ll put the recipe link in the description box below.
