I’m not familiar to this grass, but if you keep trimming it as it gets taller, and still pops up elsewhere in the pot, you’ll get a patch of lawn there.

Wild seeds sometimes get mixed in with potting soils and will do that. I’ve bought plants from nurseries that had grass growing at the roots of the plant too but I usually pull it out before planting
