Can someone help me identify what’s going on with my one maple tree. The leaves turned yellow and dropped really quick while the others have turned beautiful colors. I don’t recall if it was looking sparse during the summer. I think I would have noticed. Is it save-able?

The root flare is the answer
Regardless of the rocks and root flare issues, the one that dropped its leaves is a different species of maple. It looks like a sugar maple. The others look like Freeman maples, perhaps?
