It seems to be doing fine, with whatever you are doing now.
Don’t overthink it, it seems to be thriving?

Ponytail palm, *Beaucarnea recurvata*. Not a palm species despite the common name.

It’s a ponytail palm, a xerophytic species, so no need to water it if it´s already established

I have never seen one this big. I have a small one that I keep indoors. It’s doing pretty well. It isn’t supposed to be watered unless the soil is dry. I bought a water meter that I use for testing the soil about 2 inches down. So far every other week watering is working.
Edited to add: this is my second ponytail palm. The first died probably from overwatering, which is why I bought the small meter. Also I just re-read your question so my answer isn’t much help. Sorry.
