Welcome to MapleMonday

Not sure if this will become a regular thing yet—but what better excuse to show off a beautiful tree… or in this case, three.

This three-tree composition falls under the group setting or forest style known as Yose-ue (寄せ植え), but it also carries the specific name Sambon-yose (三本寄せ) — meaning “three-tree planting.”

The trio featured here are Trident Maples (Acer buergerianum), each over 20 years old, arranged into a newer setting that measures approximately 40 cm (15 in) wide and 30 cm (12 in) high.

Even in their relative youth as a composition, these trees already convey that quiet, natural balance of age, grace, and companionship that makes bonsai so captivating.
