I watered it every day, which seems to be making a difference since I learned that dunking it can separate the individual segments. There’s been less middle dying now, but how do I get it to look better? Even my thick form Spanish moss doesn’t look very good.

It needs more light and watering, try soaking not sprinkling.

Not to sound rude but I don’t understand, you ask for advice but every piece of advice you got from one commenter you responded by fighting it back. If you know what you’re doing then what do you want to get out of this thread?

Truly, it needs to be soaked, it doesn’t get weakened by that, all my Spanish moss is thriving on a once a week soak and twice misting during the week with dechlorinated water. I think you just don’t have the right balance of water and light. It needs strong light but a lot of water as well… the thing with yours though is that it’s mostly dead, that’s why you don’t see improvement. Any brown strand won’t come back, but if it has any green left you can cut those off and make a new bunch and adjust your lighting and water. Also, air flow means it needs to get a breeze so a small fan would do while it’s drying (a purifier won’t do anything for it).
