She growing red peppers, sweet potatoes, some special kind of Korean onion and purella leaves which are a common thing to wrap meat in to eat sort of like a small tortilla. She’s going to be planting spinach soon as that apparent is a winter thing. She manages this entire garden herself. Did I mention she’s 85? 😀

My wife just picked some peppers.

The peppers get used to make teng-jung which is a spicy, brown paste that is used to make many Korean dishes. It ripens in a clay pot for a year before she uses it.

When she knows I’m coming she makes something called nurungi. It’s made by taking your old rice from your rice cooker and then pressing it into a frying pan to heat it up. It’s a warn and crunchy treat which for some reason is even better when eaten with an ice cold coke. 😀

Those peppers look super nice and happy. How does she get the ground to be so clear and free of weeds without any mulch?
This is pretty cool! One year I planted an Asian vegetables garden because it helped fill in things that you couldn’t get at the grocery store. This is so beyond what I had.
