


So, this branch could probably be cut off, but it does have some live growth. More relevant- it's not high enough or positioned in such a way to be a danger. I'd rather keep and maintain it if possible.
Main concerns would be preventing further rot without interfering with the live aspect of it and any minor healing that might occur. Is this a lime sulfur kind of situation? Hopefully this community can help, thank you in advance!

As long as you can keep your kids and/or pets away from the branch, there doesn’t appear to be anything valuable for it to land on when it falls. Other than putting a post under the limb to brace it, there’s nothing you can do to prolong this decayed branch. Personally, I feel that the few leaves on the end are not worth keeping something like this, but you do you. There are no sprays or paints that will prevent this from continuing to decay.
I personally would remove it, so that the decay doesn’t spread into the main trunk (if it hasn’t already).
