While trick or treating with my daughter I passed by this twist on the Little Free Library trend and thought it was so cool. I'm excited to bring a trimming from my own garden to swap for a trimming already there!

Since the text is kind of hard to read, it says:

Take a cutting or leave a cutting or both

Please leave or return jars

Be nice to the library (and each other)

I love this! There’s one near me that gives out extra seedlings in early summer 🙂

I love it!!!!! Hopefully some jerk doesn’t ruin it for everyone else!

Love this so much. I could share so many plants with the crackheads who frequent my neighborhood now!

That’s such a neat idea! It must be in a protected area so the cuttings don’t get too hot. I think there’s orchid cactus cuttings in the large pail…definitely worth growing. I’d caution about separating anything you take from that cutting library until you know there aren’t any pests or disease before adding it to your own houseplants (and vice versa, making sure what you share is clean too). I love the generosity of gardeners!

Just quarantine anything you get from there before adding it to your collection or garden.

A local library was the recipient of something similar that was done as an Eagle Scout project. It was really popular and I hope it continues!

A while ago I thought about some kind of application like Wallapop but more basic and to share cuttings, plants, seeds and other things for free through a points system so that everyone would have access to many types of plants for free and to gradually spread species that are hard to find, but it was too complicated, and knowing my fellow countrymen… they would have taken advantage of the situation, obtaining merchandise to then resell it…

In the warmer months we have a little plant library. People are welcome to take a plant. We ask for other plants, pots or cuttings. Started this summer and has been successful. Had to stop just a little before Halloween as it frosts at night now

I’d love to do this in my neighborhood. Unfortunately we have some ratchet kids that would probably just smash it 😵‍💫💔

  16. Ooo, now I know what to do with my unused Ikea Socker.
