Hi, I'm new to hydroponic and looking for some guidance and tips.
1. I set up my system on an east facing balcony, is it enough light for lettuce plants?
2. I saw online talks about ph down / ph up, is it necessary? If so is there any cheap solution for it?
3. What plant do you recommend that you find easily grown?
Any other unrelated beginner tips are welcome 🙂

Cover your unused holes 🙂
Lettuce is a semi-shady plant so should do fine so long as you get a good 4-6 hours of sun a day.
Nutrients are absorbed better in particular PH ranges, so you will get better growth with your PH in the right range, but for lettuce (which isn’t a fast-growing hungry plant) you might be OK.
I would google (or ask AI) for plants that like the number of hours sun you get, don’t grow too large, and don’t need a very long grow cycle. You might find something interesting you would want to try.
Looking at your setup, I see a bit of wood on the floor, is that to level the tubes? You do not want level tubes, they should slope downwards to the downpipe so nutrient flows well. Ideally, you also want outflow pipes as close to your tube size as you can get to stop pooling inside the tubes, but it looks good enough for what you are doing. Something to think about if you make V2.0 yourself.
