In this paludarium there are 3 vampire crabs, 2 dwarf crayfish, 2 fire belly toads and 5 baby guppies. Its 44 gallons and I pretty much NEVER see any of them except if I really take my time or poke around. I count them on a monthly basis so I know everyone is still alive.
Its just full of caves and hidey holes.
I added a Pic of one of the toads and a crayfish
My point is, if you go out to the woods, im pretty sure (or, I hope at least?) there are a gazillion creatures but you need infinite patience to find them.
I love this.
It's a reassuring thought to me.
I have a friend who is a wildlife rescuer in her non work hours. She tells me in the woods near my house she finds an animal nearly every week in distress due to disease or hit by a car. I rarely see them except our squirrels and birds. This is sad but also somewhat reassuring.
Anyway here is my 3 month old paludarium! Im using the top level water zone as a kind of bog filter. Seems to work ok. There is rain coming in from the top. I want to refine it further.
