Never intentionally, but my uncle’s patio is overrun with them, popping up in every pot and through gaps in the paving slabs, due to them self-seeding.

I grew all my agapanthus from seed (Headbourne hybrids). They’re fairly easy. They’re not as fancy as some of the modern varieties, maybe, but it’s waaay cheaper. I don’t bother saving seeds and growing more as I’ve enough and they slowly bulk up anyway. So, basically, go for it!
