I started growing a tomato plant to prepare for a Science class at my work, but this different plant grew with the sprouts.

Is it a weed? Should I remove it?

I water it every time I get home from work, and it gets plenty of sunlight since I placed it on my family's balcony. I can't take it outside because it has no space, and it gets really hot here in my country. I don't know what kind of soil I gave since I only used the mix that the shop owner gave me.

  1. Yeah that little guy’s not part of your tomato. Looks like a random succulent hitchhiker, maybe a Kalanchoe. Probably snuck in from a bit of leaf or stem in the soil. It’s harmless, just stealing space and food. If the tomato’s the main project, pop the succulent into its own pot. They like dry feet, tomatoes don’t

There is zero chance that plant grew to that size in the time it took tomato seeds to sprout.

Either someone is messing with you, or you are messing with us.

UPDATE: I removed the weird plant, so this is resolved. It didn’t have roots, just a stem, so someone probably did put it there. No idea who would do that though, but it’s not a big deal. Thank you to those who answered.

Also, your tomato sprouts look like they’re already stretching for light. The pot should be full all the way to the lip with soil and they should be getting as much light as possible.
