We knew there was a tree growing out of our catalpa (darker leaves just to the right where the tree splits), but didn't realize it reached all of the way down through the trunk. Fascinating!
That’s wild! Coincidentally my folks had their ancient catalpa removed last week and the base of the trunk was completely hollow. Next day storms had 50 mph winds which would have resulted in disaster (no tree growing inside to hold it in place).
Mom successfully planted its seeds a couple years ago and now has two young ones growing like crazy!
