We moved into a new place that had a vege/herb patch. Have a strong mint plant (which I’ve already pulled a butch bunch of travelers out from), some rosemary, and then the plant in the first picture? It it a herb? Or just some nice looking ground cover?

Vietnamese Mint?, Mint, Rosemary
The first one is Vietnamese Mint 🙂
Vietnamese mint, normal mint and rosemary I think
It’s Vietnamese mint. Very strong flavor that isn’t for everyone but I love it in asian style soups or salads. squeeze a leaf between your fingers, it tastes how it smellels 🙂
Firstly get that normal mint out of there – it will take over your other herbs
Oooh, Vietnamese mint is delicious. Cook some spring rolls in the air fryer, wrap them in a nice crisp lettuce leaf with a couple of those leaves inside and dip it in sweet chilli sauce. Best snack ever.
It’s also known as laksa leaf… and unsurprisingly is really nice in a laksa 🤤
That’s what the nose is for. Smelling herbs.
I would be putting the actual mint in a pot with the bottom cut out. That way, it’s roots can get the nutrients and water it needs but won’t spread.
The mint needs to be taken out and put in a pot. You may think you’ve got it under control, but by the time you notice it getting into weird spots the damage is already done and you’ll struggle to ever get it under control.
I have some in a very large (60cm tall) terracotta pot and I’ve noticed it has found its way out of the drainage holes.
Get the mint out of the ground (second on, I don’t know the first one), it’ll go everywhere and very difficult to control. Put it in a container to grow.
Yep – know it as Vietnamese mint. Not sure if that is the correct name. It can be invasive though like many other mint types, so you can keep cutting it back without any problem. I’ve even seen it growing wild in local waterways nearby
Rosemary(3rd) can be used as a cat* deterrent
*For an average cat
Vietnamese coriander, mint, rosemary.
Google image each and you’ll see
Mint is the second one and third is rosemary. Don’t have the mint in the ground, keep it in a seperate pot. It spread very easily!
Soon that whole thing will belong to the mint in the middle.
Vietnamese(Thai) mint, mint and rosemary. I believe
Picture 2 is mint – crush in your hands and you’ll smell it.
Picture 3 looks like rosemary – also obvious if you crush and smell.
Great result
For you
Vietnamese mint, mint and, by the looks, rosemary. The Vietnamese mint is an annual, while mint and rosemary give new meaning to the word ‘vigorous’.
1. Viet mint
2. Normal mint (bastard as it likes to run)
3. Rosemary!
All of them are herbs but, I reckon rosemary might be an okay groundcover! Smell nice.
Delicious stuff, but will grow everywhere. Keep an eye on it
Great alternative to coriander.
Both. Phó, lamb roast and mojitos.
Vietnamese Coriander.👍
