So I bought my first house the beginning of this year and it has a 75+ year old crepe Myrtle ( previous owner said that 25 years ago he had a arborist who told him it was 50+ years old) and it’s only about 10 feet from my pool, well I found out very quickly how aggravating it is when it blooms and I’m having to skim constantly and empty the skimmer 3-4 times a day and it makes the pool deck dirty. Part of me doesn’t want to completely get rid of it since it’s so old but then I remember just how much of a nuisance it really is. I’m in the process of chopping it back since one of the main limbs split off from the trunk and was dead. Should I keep it or leave it?

Consider it good riddance, as a pool tech they are the one tree I tell customers to plant far far away from the pool. Anything that blooms petals will spike your phosphate levels and cause algae
