The diameter of the fire pit area will be 18ft across and will include just one walkway from the patio area. The total quote is $1600 for the project including material. Does that sound about right? It was hard to get hard quotes from some contractors but this one is well within our budget and the guy has worked for us before. Additionally, are there considerations to have with this project from your point of view such as height of fire pit, material (concrete vs just pavers), etc. Lastly, any recommendations on Adirondack chairs that will last 5+ years?

Will look mint and that seems a lot less expensive than I would have imagined including materials. Great deal

Pea gravel is a really bad choice. I can’t tell if that is bigger than that or not

    Does that price include plants?

Generally for a residential fire pit it can be 12-16″ high but all depends on the look, some bring theirs closer to 2.5′. I like having one pathway leading to the fire pit area as it makes it feel more like a final place to stay where as multiple paths would encourage walking by it, and would feel a bit much for a residential setting. In terms of price that is a great price and of you have a history of good work from this individual I would go for it!

Some of my fires (in a pit about that size, 2 1/2 pavers height above the ground— mine is surrounded by grass) would absolutely melt those light strands.. look out below..

As for Adirondack chairs I would go with composite construction.

If your quote includes grading, prep, material (barrier fabric, gravel/substrate), including the border stones, then that sounds great. 1/2 of that would seem to barely cover materials alone..

HGTV has taught me that homeowners think they can do huge projects in 35 minutes

$1600 is about the right price for the fire pit alone. Sorry, but I don’t see this turning out well at that price

The edging rocks look nice, but with them being jagged, it’s harder to weed (and yes, weeds will eventually grow in your stones as dirt and debris make their way into it)

Do you know what they say if it sounds too good to be true it is sounds super cheap. They’re probably gonna take your money and run.

What does your yard look like now? Unless some of those features are already present that price feels well below what I would expect it to cost.

Crushed marble chips worked really well for me 6 years no issues. Kept their white color well also
