I.just pick them off and throw them in the woods. You have to check for them everyday.

  2. DBASRA99

They are hard to find even though they are huge. They love tomatoes. Horn worm I think.

  3. rhesuses56

That is a tobacco horn worm, whatever you do use extreme caution… and do not throw it into your Karen neighbor’s garden👀

Go out at night with a UV flashlight. They are fluorescent, so they will be easy to spot and remove by hand. I usually sacrifice them to the compost pile.

You can also encourage their natural enemies – tachnid flies and parasitoid wasps – by planting umbelliferous flowering plants such as asters, yarrow, and fennel.

    Evil must be burned.

Or in this case, given to the chickens if you have them.

  6. Icedcoffeeee

Clip that piece of stem off. Lay it somewhere bare like a rock or pavers if you have them. The birds or wasps will find and eat it

  7. BigandTallGuy

pick it off and place in a cup of soapy water. it will kill it.

I go out with my kids at night and try to find smaller ones with a black light too

  8. katrise55

Do not make him your best friend, do not invite for cocktails and whatever you do do not leave your debit card by the tomatoes.

  9. yo-ma-me

I too like giving hornworms the middle finger, even when they aren’t that big.

Throw him over your neighbors fence

  11. Electrical-Show4928

I put them on the bird feeder. I see birds flying off with them, a tasty treat, I imagine.

I thought gardeners were a peaceful people, but these comments say otherwise. Lol

Feed him to your chickens. If you don’t have chickens, here’s the excuse you were looking for.

  14. ClearBarber142

Enter his picture in a photo contest!

  15. Tenement-on_Wheels

I usually just cut them in half with pruners

  16. IcyManipulator69

Pick them off and feed them to chickens, or get rid of them somehow…

  17. anOvenofWitches

Well, when a hornworm and a parasitic wasp love each other very much…

  18. procrasstinating

I give them to my chickens to look after. They like pets too.

  19. Financial_Trip_6987

Give him a hookah and a mushroom to sit on.

  20. MisterProfGuy

I, for one, am surprised I’m in the thread before the people who wax rhapsodic about how pretty the resulting moth is.

Personally, I favor the wasps that turn them into a nursery.

  21. ScrupulousScorpion

If you or a friend has chickens, they are the TASTIEST raptor snack. They go WILD for these destructive jerks.

  22. Consistent_Essay2422

Unless you are gardening for subsistence, consider letting it live. They are just living their lives and everything is endangered these days.
    Sphinx moths are cool!

  23. TheZwitD

As others have said, go out at night with a uv flashlight to spot them. Take a coffee can full of water. Just throw em in. They sink right to the bottom.

  24. Ralkeven

Leave him! Such beautiful moths come from these guys!

  25. Artistic_Skills

Tomato hornworm! The bane of tomatoes and other nightshade family plants.
I heard that if you get a blacklight flashlight and look around at night, they will glow in the dark.
If there is one, there may be more.

  26. HamBroth

Once he gets big enough he will eat your house

  27. Hungry_Scarcity_4500

Launch it on the roof of your home or into the street for the birds .

  28. Carlpanzram1916

A compassionate person would say that it’s pretty much ready to cacoon and really won’t do any more damage to your plants. I like to throw them really high and watch them explode on the concrete.

  29. _Acidik_

If you put your ear up close, you can actually hear him eating your plant.

  30. FAANGEL145

Everyone has their own opinions about this little guy. Good news is he will be pupating in the next day or 2.

  31. crfgee5x

Buy chickens and hand feed them. ( You can’t let them loose because they’ll do even more damage to your plants)

On another note, you have taken the most amazing photo I’ve seen of this most hated enemy. At least he will die knowing you have captured him in all his disgusting splendor. ✌️ 📷📷

  32. pennylovesyou3

I’d let him turn into he beautiful moth he would become.
