This is day 1 fully submerged. Btw they float so I had to gently tie it down to a rock. The tie is open enough that the plant can grow and basal shoots can spread without causing issues.

When I finished I gave it a little spritz of foliar spray to provide a little something to the water.

I’m interested in how this will go

It’s a ventrata so it might not even care

I’m both offended by this and interested in the outcome.

I’m very excited to see the result. It might be like a temporary immersion tissue culture.

this is fascinating and i look forward to the data you’ll be collecting!

Edit: omg I just saw that you also play pocket frogs. I love that game. you rock.

Interested to see how this goes, will you be changing the water at intervals?

I mean the worst case scenario is you end up with a dead Nepenthes so I think it’s a pretty low risk and interesting experiment.

  7. Do you have a plan to prevent algae growth?

I’ve been doing a phytotoxicity study on insecticides and carnivorous plants (ie, are chemical pest controls dangerous to the plants). I had idea to test submersion as a non-chrmical control since the pests will likely die after a day or two under water. I’d assumed I would skip Nepenthes but I guess I’ll have to include them now.
