My FLF (Big Bertha) which I’ve had for about 4 years is throwing out a branch which I just noticed for the first time today.

I was literally just going over to water it and thinking about potentially notching for some more branches as I’ve neglected for poor gal.

I’ve noticed that while the past year it’s been putting out less leaves (due to not so much love, besides it’s regular watering) recently it has put out about three new leaves.

My question is, is it normal to throw out a branch in the middle of the stem like this without the help of notching?? I’ve never seen this before but I’m also no pro. I’ve had this guy since it was only 3 leaves in a tiny pot so obviously I think I’m doing something right.

Ps don’t mind the lean, I rotate every so often to correct it. She’s in a south facing window.

Yes if the lighting isn’t as sufficient up top, which is the case here.
