Dobbies Garden Centres is hosting a free-to-attend gardening workshop at its Moreton Park store this weekend, for children to discover how they can encourage winter birds into the garden.

During November’s Little Seedlings Club workshop, children will learn about the different types of winter birds, how birds survive during winter, what kinds of food give them the most energy, and why certain foods should be avoided. They will also explore different types of bird feeders and learn easy ways to attract more birds to their gardens this winter.

Children will get to discover which foods are safe for birds to eat and which are unsafe. This game will be followed by a hands-on activity at the Moreton Park store where children will make their very own fatball bird feeder to take home and add to their garden to encourage wildlife to flourish.

Dobbies’ Little Seedlings Club workshops are designed to be fun and engaging space for kids to learn about gardens and nature, with interactive activities and games, and the chance to ask lots of questions. The club takes place monthly at the Moreton Park store and covers a range of topics and activities.

Ayesha Nickson, Dobbies’ Events programme manager, said: “Our Little Seedlings Club at our Moreton Park store this November is ideal for inspiring nature lovers from a young age. It is recommended to start feeding birds in late autumn when the temperatures start to drop.

“This workshop is perfectly timed for kids to discover more about birds and ways to attract them during the winter months. We are looking forward to welcoming the Little Seedlings and to see their bird feeder creations.”

The November Little Seedlings Club workshop is on Sunday, November 2. To reserve your spot, visit: www.dobbies.com/events
