I've had this plant for probably close to 10 years, and have no idea what it is or how to care for it, although I'm pretty confident it is a Euphorbia. It has been kept inside most of the time (Midwest). However, every summer, I bring it outside and it sprouts a new notch. This summer, in addition to sprouting another notch on top, it developed one on the side.
It is obviously leaning significantly, which is causing the bottom to come loose in the soil. It is around 32 inches tall. When I manipulate it to stand upright, it is C-Shaped, which makes me think it's too far gone to correct the bend.
From the research I've done, it seems like I should cut it with a sterile knife and leave the piece out to dry before potting it. I just worry I'm going to kill the whole plant.
Any other knowledge would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Your research is good, but you need to wait until spring. Trying to root plants in the winter is not recommended.
I don’t think it needs a chop and repot. I would repot it in the spring in a heavier pot. If it absolutely will not stand upright, chop it just above the corking at the halfway mark and pot that piece up separately. You’ll have two plants!
