I had some sashimi and tempura in Japan recently and they had this garnish on a lot of dishes. The taste was peppery, like a cross between sesame and wasabi. Does anyone know what plant this garnish comes from?

    looks vaugly like a weed growing in my cactus pot but im fairly sure its diffrent

    Kinome, sanshō leaves, japanese prickly-ash. Zanthoxylum piperitum, same genus as sichuan pepper.

    Edit. My Peruvian self thought this was huatacay for a second lol.
