Air layered this white champaca last April and I’m worried it may have not rooted enough when I cut it today. Should I trim it down and make the stem shorter so it roots more? Can I put it in water? Tia! SoCal 10a

while you wait for professional-ish opinion, be sure to keep the leaves humid. (as you may already know) This may involve cover in a clear, sealed plastic bag, with one hour each of bag removed (prevent fungus) and of direct sunlight (normally indirect sun, house wall).
