  1. I am in my 50's. A few years ago, while working in my yard, I came across a brown and yellow catapillar I had never seen before. Cool, unique colors! Didn't touch it, but I took a photo and posted it on Facebook. Someone said they sting, and it hurts really bad.

  2. Blister beatle? We get those in the summer in north central OK….they eat the plants too!

  3. I know they do this and I have seen these guys around, but I’ve never met anyone who has been hit by one. I don’t think they are too much of a threat and it’s not even something people go to the ER for. Like most animals if you don’t bother them they won’t bother you.

  4. They're harmless, if you agitate them they'll raise their butts like a skunk in self-defense. Even if you let it into your hand it'll be fine as long as you don't flick it or annoy it

  5. They regularly decimate my nightshades in the garden. They come in the color grey also. 😮‍💨

  6. Just be glad it wasn't a toe biter. Also known as giant water bugs, they are one of the most painful bites you can get from a bug and are found all over Michigan in freshwater ponds.

  7. They use blister beetle juice, also known as cantharidin, in medicine. Our doctor used the secretion from the blister beetle on my son’s stubborn wart to cause a blister to form under the wart and thereby remove it. It worked!

  8. Doesn't look like blister beetles I have seen. They get in alfalfa fields and they are stripped. They can kill livestock that eats hay with them in it even tho the big is dead

  9. Would say to find a new bug in your farm never seen by you before is a good sign. You don't really go to farms these days to find insects diversity. You are doing something very right

  10. Also called a ground beetle. Eats other bugs I have heard. I have lived on my one acre over 33 years. I have never been bitten by scorpions, black widow spiders or recluse spiders. We have toads and even snakes. MY hands are always going into bushes, piles of weeds and brush and moving stacked wood. I hate wearing gloves because I can't feel what I am doing with them on. I leave them alone and they leave me alone. I have many of those bugs on my property.

  11. Oh my Lord! I just watched a lady from Texas with a “puss Caterpillar “ She had to go to the ER. Where are these strange bugs coming from? I live in WV.. we have been fighting miniature flies that resemble fruit flies… but they bite and they came by the thousands.

  12. Lol. I'm surprised you haven't seen them yet in michigan. They have been taking over since 2016 in SE michigan.

  13. Earwigs and silverfish are ones I stay away from here in TN. Dont know if they bite but I'll try not find out.

  14. I saw one this summer, I was pretty excited about it. It really was huge! Thankfully I already knew what it was and not to touch it, but I did spend a good while watching it with my headlamp on after dark. Very cool insect!

  15. Yikes! I live in Michigan too and I also just found one of these guys! I've never seen one here before so glad I didn't pick it up!

  16. In veterinary medicine we see these as the terror of the equine world. Cantharidin poisoning! Most of us won’t feed alfalfa hay to our horses unless it comes out of Canada or it’s put on an insecticidal cycle. When a horse accidentally consumes a blister beetle, or its parts, it typically leads to suffering and eventual death even with supportive care. If a dog or cat plays with them or tries to eat a blister beetle the results can also be tragic. Blister beetle is toxic to rabbits, guinea pigs, sheep, cattle goats, horses, alpacas, llamas, rats, mice, and humans. Thank you for featuring this video and showing good images of this offensive creature.

  17. If it makes you feel any better, i opened the winch compartment on my quad yesterday and went to reach in when i noticed a pretty bright red hourglass shape…… then the rest of the very large black widow came into focus and i quietly withdrew my intentions and closed the lid. Lol
