Hey yall, I’m new to this sub so I thought I’d share something I’ve been dealing with on one of my trees. I recently moved into my current house, and one of my Chinese Elms is showing signs of Elm Anthracnose (Stegophora ulmea). The canopy is sparse, there’s spotting on the leaves, and most concerningly branch cankering is occurring (attached images).
Even more unfortunately, Ganoderma polychromum has begun to fruit in a basal wound (also attached images). Sadly, I think it’s time to say goodbye.
Not TRAQ yet, so anyone who is please chime in because you’ll know best, but there’s a number of potential targets and I don’t wanna mess around here.

Depending on where you are Chinese Elms are invasive, and while it’s always sad to lose the shade and majesty of a tree there is solace in knowing that you can replace this with a native tree and do immense good for the local environment.
