Hello, I’m trying to experiment with growing basil hydroponically. I checked the roots to find some browning at the tips of the roots. Is this normal? I’m trying to do a passive system and have ensured an air gap below the netcup.

I have a similar issue some times, i get some strong roots going and they seem to dry back before they reach my water source. Kind of like air pruning.
If you have an air gap then the short ones on the side might not touch the nutrients and dry out. That’s not perfect but within expectations. The plant looks fine and should grow.
