I figure it could go up against this rock and then that’ll overhang it into the pond. Oh boy. [Music] Do you think we need to dig a bit of a hole for it? We do. Like maybe we should place it and then use the shovel to kind of get the size and then dig then pick it up and move it. I don’t like this rock. Robert, [Music] can you push it? [Music] So, you thought that there or what did you think? I thought of reversing it and doing it the other way on the canal levered out. [Music] I don’t know. We can try. But how we spin it? How are you going to move it back out of the way? I don’t know. [Music] Welcome to episode 17 of the backyard build. Today is the final episode of the series coming to a close. Coming to a close. 17 weeks of some very hard work in some very hot weather. Every single week has been physical labor. Yeah. I’m ready for a break. Rifting, digging, wheelbarrowing, shoveling. Mhm. Digging, digging, digging, tamping, digging. Last week’s episode was simultaneously our best and our worst episode, depending who you ask. Yeah, it was a hard watch for me. What’s wrong, babe? Everything. Hard project, harder watch. You guys didn’t get to see it in last episode because it was too dark. We couldn’t even really see it. We couldn’t even really see it and we didn’t have the lights hooked up yet. So, it would have been a very like it just wouldn’t have been a very good reveal. So, I apologize for making you wait, but it is going to be worth it cuz you guys get to see it um finished by the end of this episode. Fine tuned. Fine-tuned. It’ll be worth the wait. Yeah. Anything you want to tell them? Thank you for watching. I know it can be hard sometimes, but I am human and I overthink, but I overcome it because of this wonderful soul next to me. And with that, let’s get started. [Music] Just like that. [Music] Okay, stop. What I’ve done since the last video is I brought in a lot more dirt. I ended up ordering 20 yards and I actually have another 20 yards coming. So, I back filled as much as I can right now around the spillway BOF falls. And what we’ve done is we’ve placed a couple rocks here with a nice flag stone as kind of I think this is the spot Aspen’s going to go in and out the most. Or you could even put a small chair here or something. We’re placing a couple boulders and some of the extra armor stone to act as a retaining wall for this because we need to build the soil up more so that the water level isn’t higher than like the ground, right? Because up here we have it just back filled as tight as we can. But that needs to kind of come out like flat here so that it doesn’t just wash out. Two, three. One, two, three. Yeah, something like that. Perfect. [Music] Oh, okay. Vertical. I didn’t see that coming. Neither did I. It’s just what you feel. Not really. Don’t love that. Do you? I don’t care. That? Yep. Looks good. [Music] From sitting over there, how does it look? Looks amazing. Looks good. Like it’s always been there. Nice. [Music] Well, good job, babe. [Music] looking good, eh? It’s just so boring this content. So, what are you most looking forward to now that we’re going to be done? Um, I’m looking forward to just kind of doing some stuff around the house that I’ve been meaning to catch up on, like clean out the garage, clean the vehicles, like just that stuff that you don’t really film and that kind of gets forgotten about. That’s what I’m looking forward to catching up on. What about you? Um, cleaning the car. No, I’m going to I’m going to be happy we’re having a break for like a week and then I’m going to be like, “Okay, let’s get back to it.” I’m sure we could find something to do. I’m ready to film again. [Music] This is fun. Mhm. Yeah, that’s what I’m talking about. This is going to look insane. Like good. Like insanely good when those lights come on and we start running it for the final reveal. This is all landscaped. Wow. [Music] I can’t believe how different this looks. We’re pretty much ready for plants. Can you get the camera? I want to tell them something. Perfect. Not too close. Okay. I want to show you guys one of my favorite parts. After we stopped filming last week, we added in this beautiful rock that I had been saving to use in our stream. So, it is perfectly carved out as you can see so that the water can pass right through it. It’s one of my favorite rocks. And I want to show you guys, we also got our log placed. Came with the aquacape kit. I think we’re going to keep it here so the water spills underneath it over the waterfall. Would look really pretty. But let me hit them with a quick before. So, now for the pond. Option one, waterfall right here. Two chairs, little musca chairs, and we’re sitting like this and feeding our koiish. We’re like face to face with the koi. We’re sitting like this. And to think that we have a functioning waterfall that you guys will see very shortly, it’s really amazing. We got through last week. I didn’t think we were going to, but we did. And uh now we’re ready to move on to some landscaping. Do you smell it? No. I smell it. Oh, right. Cuz you said you want that curve facing the water. Okay, that’s good, right? Yeah, sure. That’ll like carve out the rock. You like Sure. Yeah, that’ll be good. Okay. You stink. Smell like you rolled in dog poo. [Music] Did it break? No, we’re good. It’s looking way more natural. Like it less like a Anthill volcano. Like it this looks great. Like that little shelf you have there. It’d be cool to have something come across there. You know, we do have like a big tree branch you could use as like a retaining wall there. Oh, he’s getting crazy. Or would that be like really weird? I don’t know. He suggested a tree trunk right before this. You can like really tell the mound from this side, but from the other side, it finally looks like it’s the same level as the Oh, it looks fantastic. But even this, yeah, it’s higher, but it’s like it’s not a wall of, you know what I mean? Yeah. It gradually goes up. And this I’m going to bring out pretty much to here. Like just round it. Pretty much just bring this around here. And it’s going to be an even lower slope. It’s going to look the same as the other side. How much dirt you still got? lots. Basically, just bring this down. I need a little break though. Do you want to eat? Yeah. You should leave that in. No, that is so funny. [Music] [Music] This is the Aquacape smart um pond dosing system. What it does is it kind of feeds your pond with these different things you can get. This one’s called Maintain for ponds. It just keeps the pond clean, clear, and healthy. It’s got a little pump that kind of takes the liquid out of here and drips it into your skimmer. So, that slides in there. Put the jug in. Get that pushed in just like that. The little clear hose gets hooked up to the the bottle there. And then on the back of it here, that’s where the liquid comes out. I was just showing a little bit about it, trying to figure it out with them. Well, this was 8 minutes of you doing the dosing system, I guess. I don’t know. Good morning, everybody. Welcome to our final day of filming the backyard build, which is crazy. I even wore look the backyard build. I wear the backyard build cuz it’s like the last time. Unless of course we come back next summer for season 2. Oh, we will be. I already have plans for the other side of the yard. I just feel like when we did over on that other side. We didn’t have a whole lot of knowledge or experience. We’ll probably still like be posting videos. We just won’t be in a series, so it won’t be filming every single week. But if you have suggestions of what we should do, comment and who knows, maybe we’ll do it. Maybe we’ll travel. Maybe we’ll become travel vloggers. Come to a city near you. And we’re going to kind of be doing things out of order today because it is the last day of filming. And we’re on kind of like a crunch time right now to get this project done in order to have this video ready for you for Sunday. We’re going to be getting mulch this morning and then our plants are coming later on. So, usually you would do the plants and then do the mulch and then do the lighting. These are the lights we’re going to be using. They’re aluminum and they’re from Amazon. So, I’ll link them in the description. So, you know how you asked what I’m looking forward to most to when this kind of filming a series is done. Yeah. So, I think my answer would be being able to step back and actually enjoy and live in the moment of what we’ve done over the last like 2 years. I'd love to see you guys shopping for fish (if you add them), the warehouses are always so cool! I'd also love to see another wildlife area? A tiny, less labor intensive pond just for the squirrels and butterflies that isn't right next to where you walk everyday (for the animals privacy, of course). I really enjoy all of your videos, it inspired me to clean up my partners back yard which is definitely not as big but I've come out of this thinking "if they can do it, so can I".
