    .177’s for sure. Population control

I bought a container of the Scott’s EZ seed patch and repair. It’s seed, mulch & fertilizer mix for patching small spots. The container has a handle and applicator that makes it easy to fill into all those little holes that the squirrels dig up. I go out in my yard once a week and patch all spots.

Radical acceptance that nature does not acknowledge your fence.

We put a motion activated sprinkler. I laughed so hard the first time it hit him square in the side, that I scared my cat 🤣
Only took a couple days, he’s stayed out mostly for a few years now.

Orbit Yard Enforcer. Get as many as you need to cover your grass with overlapping fields of fire. Daisy chain them together so if one goes off, they all go off. You won’t need to worry about squirrels or watering ever again.

Another option I used at a different property was to trap the squirrels one by one and relocate them to a “nicer neighborhood” elsewhere. I used the double-sided Havahart trap and it was great. You’ll need to drive in a zig-zag and go at least a few miles away otherwise they can find their way back. I think I moved over twenty in one season, but it solved the problem.

Free aeration. Not really, but that’s what I tell myself. Not going to kill squirrels over my lawn

Consider it natural aeration and move on.

I curb my OCD of having a perfect lawn. You can’t do anything.

I abandon trying to grow new grass in my front yard

Put up a friendly but firmly-worded sign asking them to dig elsewhere.

I leave them be. They are the wildlife and I like watching them during the rest of the year. I love my lawn, but I’m not killing animals over grass.

Just accept that they will always dig. I keep a few bags of top soil around to fill in the few holes after I mow.

After all the acorns are gone, the holes will reduce as well.

Good thing they have not gotten into your garage. A few years ago, we tore out all of our carpet and had to hold it in rolls for a few weeks while we scheduled a pickup for it. When we went to move them to the curb, I found this… evidently, one of the neighborhood squirrels thought they found a winter home.

I use a motion activated sound deterreant. Works great on any animal that passes by in the night and its solar.

Try an owl decoy. Seems to work pretty well for me.

If you think squirrels are bad… I have wild turkeys, and they fuck the lawn up, but they eat all the grubs and ticks, and I love them. Wild/native meadow style “lawn” so it’s all good.

    That’s the best part….you don’t!

I’ve learned through years, almost decades, to just let them do their thing and it’ll all fill in in Spring.

You’ll waste your time or money trying to deal with nature

  18. Paste_Eating_Helmet

You get a gille suit. .22 lr, scoped with a 10x. When they come, you lay waste. leave some on the ground, to warn the next squirrel from trespassing your land. OR you could just put up some squirrel feeders.

My dog has gotten too old to help with squirrels. But by spring can’t really see much damage.

    I got a dog.

How do you deal with dogs digging your lawn?

Happy I have a yard with squirrels and not a lifeless astroturf field ?
