Since we bought our house in 2023, we have kept this “natural patch” in the back that I never now during the growing season, and have spread out a couple rounds of native wildflower seeds. This spring/summer, I actually got a good bit come up!
Now that we come into the fall/winter, where before I would do one reset mow of that area, I’m considering just weed-eating it down as to better allow seeds from the flowers that grew over the season to naturally drop and germinate next year.
Does that sound right?
Also wanting to throw down another package of the wildflower seeds for even a better boost next year

I guess it depends on what your goals are?
A lot of this just looks like unmowed grass.
Also be careful with seed mixes. They often lie about being native
Also in DFW. My pocket prairie also looks like this.
We have a fair amount of growing season left for buffalo grass/blue gramma/etc. I’d mow it at the highest setting to break up all the indian blanket flower heads. You’ll probably get a few inches growth on the turf grass to lend insects some winter habitat.
Also, I’m just assuming this isn’t bermuda grass. Do you know what you have here?
