Or did I do it incorrectly? Also no, it's not planted too high (I don't think?)…it's at the lowest it can go with soil at the bottom.

    Plant it deeper. The stem will grow roots. You should be able to spread the roots out in that pot.

    You should have trimmed off the bottom layer of roots and gently scrape the neck with your fingernail (or a dull knife) so new roots will grow there. You should remove the bottom row of leaves as well. You want around 10 leaves total when you repot. And the neck should definitely be below the soil line. You can find YouTube videos for repotting african violets the right way. It is time consuming, but once you get the hang of the steps it’s not hard to do.
