News Release

SYRACUSE — Peak leaf-viewing season has arrived in northern Indiana, and Syracuse Public Library’s In the Garden group will take advantage of it with a nature walk at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, at Shoup-Parsons Woods Park and along the Millrace in Goshen.

During the group’s 2022 visit, walkers were wowed by golden leaves and how the Millrace reflected autumn’s beautiful colors.

In the Garden is composed of individuals who are passionate about native plants and pollinators, and anyone interested in the natural world is welcome to attend its meetings and walks.

For this walk, meet at the parking lot that can be reached via Westwood Road in Goshen. Wear comfortable shoes for trail walking. For questions, email Sarah Wright at [email protected].

Deadline For Duck Decorating Contest

The week of Oct. 20 is the last chance for children to pick up a duck to decorate and participate in the library’s duck decorating contest. Adults and teens will learn the countess’s history through folk singer Karliene’s song, “Blood Countess.”
