Those growths are burls, formed when the tree’s normal growth was disrupted by stress such as injury, infection, or environmental damage. They develop as the tree produces layers of callus tissue to seal wounds or fight off disease, resulting in the rough, swollen shapes. This kind usually occurs after old branch loss, fungal infection, or repeated trauma over many years. The burls themselves aren’t harmful unless they crack or decay spreads inside the trunk.

I’m getting them on my knuckles as years go by.
I’m guessing hit by a car, resulting in severe damage that can cause burls. Looks rad as tits.
