Need to reduce exposure to the light, the kit should have come with some stickers so you can place it on top of your sponge, soil or whatever that is…? The sticker would have a small hole in the center

4. Use good seeds. I use Baker Creek seeds at http://www.rareseeds.com. Their seeds have a high germination rate and shipping is free. I also use Eden Brothers at http://www.edenbrothers.com and MIgardener at https://migardener.com/.

What substrate did you use? Typically one would use special sponges and not stuff other material in there.
