I got this spider plant maybe 3 or 4 weeks ago, and it has gone downhill a bit quickly. The soil is currently completely dry but I’m worried about overwatering it. My window faces north east and gets a few hours of direct sunlight per day. Please help! Does it need more sun or more water? The leaves are flimsy to the touch.

Looks under watered or overwatered
I would start watering it again and see how the leaves progress. Spider plants are supposed to be pretty hardy plants so hopefully it won’t die too quickly
It’s underwatered. Soak that baby from the bottom and then leave it alone until you can pick up the pot and it feels light again. Their special roots store the water and I’m going to bet that when you got it, it was slightly dehydrated and just wasn’t showing it yet. Put that together with your fear of overwatering. As for sun, yes, they like the sun, but they are such a resilient plant you can put them anywhere. Your description of where you have it sounds perfect.
I’m going with underwatered. I would make sure it’s getting AM sun too.
She so thirsty
Overwatered turns yellow.
That thing needs a drink
Pot is to big for plant, probably rot root due to over watering
Mine was sad like this too, but I put it in this hanging pot that waters from below and now it’s absolutely going OFF. I suggest giving a pot like that a shot here.
Did you repot in good soil when you got it? If not, try giving it a small (<1/4 cup) drink of milk. Then water all the way through and let dry completely.
Definitely needs water. Can you repot it since you’re saying the water just runs out?
If its soil is super dry then yeah, it needs water. But, also I would pull out any dead you have in that pot. Spiders grow from rhizomes and it looks like you may have a couple dead ones, so just detach those if they are totally dead and just leave the ones with healthy tuberous roots. They will detach pretty easily if they’re dead.
And, I’m curious why is your guy so dry? Spider plants don’t like to completely dry out. Not many plants do, the only ones I can think of right now are succulents and even those can shrivel up if they don’t get enough water.
Spider plants, like many houseplants, should be watered completely, and then not watered again until the top two inches of soil is dry. Yes, they are better at dealing with drought periods because they store water in their tuberous roots, but that just means they are harder to kill, but they still need water.
Desperately needs water for sure. The soil looks very dry.
So I was having issues with my spider plant and once I switched to rainwater instead of tap and gave it a little more sun, it’s like night and day.
This looked like mine and the roots were crazy and it needed a bigger pot. I also rotated it so the leaves would move towards the sun. It seems to want a lot of water
