Hello everyone, I'm looking for a little advice on what would be best to do with this beautiful old, seemingly healthy, Post Oak in my front yard.
A couple of weeks ago, out of nowhere, it dropped a massive limb. It happened on a calm, hot day with no severe weather. I was very lucky it did not hit my house.

After doing some research it sounds like it could be something called "Sudden Branch Drop Syndrome."

That said, I'm not an expert and the two arborists from tree trimming companies who came out to do assessments did not mention it. They said the tree is healthy, it's just "unbalanced" from the electric company doing a horrible job of trimming the tree away from power lines. They both suggested removing a few major limbs that hang over my house.

I want to do everything I can to not harm this tree and removing several major limbs makes me a little nervous.

I’m wondering what are the chances another limb will fall and will the tree really be better off with several limbs removed? Any thoughts or advice is greatly appreciated.
