3 leaves let it be… poison ivy. Do to touch it burn and best to remove when dormant

  2. Definitely poison ivy. Spray and/or rip it out, get all the roots… but do NOT burn it, the smoke can cause major respiratory issues.

Poison ivy, identifiable by the longer stem on the middle leaflet and the reddish coloration where the leaflets meet. Margins (leaf edges) can be smooth, toothy, or roundedly-toothy like in these photos. Mature vines can be very dark and hairy.

Fun fact! Poison ivy’s oils aren’t a defense mechanism, humans and other primates are just sensitive to them because of a quirk of our immune systems.

Trashbags, yardwork gloves, tyvek painters suit. If you take your own trash to a transfer station (dump), some will have invasive species piles/dumpsters.

Those look young, and with some effort can be properly eradicated. You need to loosen the dirt with the trail so that you can get all the roots and you need to do so without cutting the roots. This is a very hardy plant and difficult to eradicate.

When you are done removing it wash yourself and your clothes with dawn dish soap or some other oil removing soap.

I am of the camp that you do not disturb it at all. You get poison ivy weed killer and spray it. You will have to hit it a couple times, but you can get it under control. Unlike many other sorts of horrible plants. Persistence yields victory. But do not dig, touch, burn, etc.. just look and spray.

Poison Ivey don’t touch, you can spray w vinegar, salt, and dish soap. Combo

I never burned it because my neighbor was highly allergic to it and I didn’t want any smoke to blow over her way. So I used Round Up.

  10. You need to use a vine and brush killer with tryclopir. ( not sure if it’s spelled correctly) That will kill it down to the roots.
