Two photos from my recent lawn renovation. First photo is about an hour after I seeded. Weather man said we were going to get a “light sprinkling in the late evening”. Got 3” at noon instead…

Second picture is 2 weeks post-seeding. It’s coming in nicely and I have only noticed a little bit of clumping. (The lawn was completely bare since I nuked it all down)

I’m posting because I felt dejected when I was taking the first picture and wanted to let everyone know that it will be okay.

PS: I used GCI Turf TTTF and I’m near St. Louis. 🙂

Not sure how they seed didn’t get washed away, I could consider your situation to be a bit lucky. There was a downpour (about the same amount as you got) and most of my seeds definitely got washed away.

Hurricane Helene came through my area and gave me 8.5 inches of rain in under 36 hours last year exactly 5 days after I seeded. I thought I was completely done for and felt crushed that all my hard work was wasted. Once the rain stopped I went outside and couldn’t find seed anywhere. Apparently, it rained so hard that the seeds must have been driven into the soil, because a few days later I had seedlings coming up everywhere with hardly any bare spots. Somehow it didn’t all float away. It was a full reno like this one too. Maybe I got lucky, but it certainly worked out in the end.

I pray for heavy rain. I’ve used 17,000 gallons of water since September 17. I usually use 3,500 gallons. I reseeded a 1/2 acre.
