The plant is an alocasia frydek and until recently it was thriving and putting out new leaves about once a week. Started to take a downturn about the same time this stuff appeared. The pot does have drainage holes and I usually water every 2 weeks or whenever it looks like it needs it. I have a grow light that's either on for 8hrs or for two 4-hr stints with a break in-between. The soil itself is a mix of potting soil, perlite, and orchid bark.

Im old so eyes aren’t what they used to be. It looks like mold of some sort. Sprinkle cinnamon on it and see if that doesn’t kill it.

It’s the sclerotia of Leucocoprinus birnbaumii, a gilled mushroom common in houseplants and nurseries. It’s not harmful for the plant. If ingested, it’s mildly toxic for humans and pets. 💚
