A bunch of these fruits from this large tree in front of my office are smashed on the ground and they’ve stained the ground. They also smell kind of like vomit.
Smelling like vomit makes me think ginkgo, but photos of the tree itself are necessary for a good ID.

Is the large tree in the room with us right now? A close up pic of the tree leaves/bark and a closer pic of an* individual fruit would go a long way.

Looks like ground fruits. Could be wrong though

Googled a ginkgo tree and confirmed that it is the same fruit and tree! Thank you everyone 🙂

ginkgo for certain, and yes, they smell badly.

It’s ginkgo, as others have said. The seeds inside are edible and delicious, so you might want to consider putting on some gloves and collecting a few.
They need cooking before eating (bake, boil, or just microwave). But don’t eat too many in one day (8-10 is usually the recommended limit per day), as eating too many at once can have negative effects.

Ginko?

Could you do some close ups of the fruits and the leaves of the tree?

Fun little tidbit (possibly controversial)
These trees are a trans icon.
Builders only plant male trees because the female trees are obviously messy and stinky. But occasionally, for no apparent reason, a previously male tree will become female on some branches and start producing fruit. Nature is cool!

Where I live, those would be plums.
