Pearse Park in New Ross has been given a new lease of life with the addition of a colourful flower bed created by young members of the community.

Friends Together New Ross, a local youth club for children and young people with additional needs, were the group behind bringing the project to fruition, with funding from Wexford County Council’s Amenity and Arts Grants Scheme.

The bright blue planter, now full of seasonal flowers, was planted by members of the local youth club as part of a biodiversity and community project. The Friends Together New Ross Chairperson, Alison Bolger, explained that the idea was to “create something beautiful for the town while giving our young people the chance to take pride in their work and learn about caring for the environment”.

“This is about more than flowers,” she continued, “it symbolises the hard work, creativity, and community spirit of our young people. They have taken real pride in planting and caring for the bed.”

The initiative is already drawing attention from park visitors, who have welcomed the splash of colour and a sign will also be added to mark the children’s involvement and highlight the community effort behind the project.

With Pearse Park now more vibrant than ever, the youth club is delighted to have taken part in the project that combines creativity, learning, and care for the local environment.
